Willis McGahee has already set career highs in fumbles and fumbles lost in 2012, and isn't pointing the finger at anybody but himself.

Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee is having an uncharacteristic bout with fumblitis in 2012, fumbling five times this season, and losing four of them. Two of those fumbles occurred on Sunday, when the Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers, 36-14.

McGahee, to his credit, isn't blaming anyone but himself, and says that he "shouldn't be doing it."

"They were two strips from behind," McGahee said about his fumbles in the Broncos' 36-14 victory over the Carolina Panthers. "Those are tough. I shouldn't be doing it. You can't blame anybody but yourself."

McGahee's previous career-high in fumbles was four, which occurred on two occasions -- in 2006 and 2007. Between 2008 and 2010, McGahee fumbled five times combined.

McGahee's four lost fumbles also constitute a career high, and the season is just barely past the halfway point.

Still, McGahee has been productive this year, carrying the ball 160 times for 676 yards -- good for a 4.2 yards per carry average. McGahee has already matched his touchdown total from a year ago, with four.

Denver coaches will likely work with McGahee in the coming weeks to make certain that McGahee's fumbling trouble stays in the past, as the Broncos gear up for a playoff run.

Peyton Manning tied Dan Marino for second place atop the career passing touchdown leaderboard on Sunday, and spoke about what it means to be mentioned alongside the Hall of Fame quarterback.

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning tied former Miami Dolphins and Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino on Sunday for second place on the career passing touchdowns list, with 420.

Manning, who grew up as a fan of Marino, spoke about how humbling it is to be mentioned alongside Marino -- with whom Manning has developed a friendship.

Well, Dan Marino, after my dad retired, was my favorite quarterback growing up. I think it's pretty well documented through the years when I've been asked about Dan Marino how I feel about him. I've never felt comfortable kind of being mentioned amongst him. But, a lot of players have caught a lot of those touchdowns, so I'm grateful for all the receivers and the protection I've received along the way. Marino is one of my all-time favorites and he's been very good to me since he stopped playing, and I've really appreciated his friendship.

Marino and Manning both trail Brett Favre, who threw for 508 touchdown passes between 1991 and 2010.

If Manning plays at a high level over the next four seasons, there's a very good possibility that Manning will eclipse Favre's record mark of 508 touchdowns.

Through his first nine games as a member of the Broncos, Manning has thrown 21 touchdown passes, and has only thrown six interceptions. Manning's passer rating of 108 ranks first in the NFL.

Manning will have an opportunity next Sunday to move ahead of Marino, when the Broncos play host to the San Diego Chargers in an AFC West battle.

Von Miller was one of the top players in a dominant showing for the Broncos defense on Sunday, coming complete with his own 'Superman' sack dance.

The Denver Broncos defense had a dominant performance overall against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday during the team's 36-14 win, and Von Miller was one of the stars of the show. The dynamic linebacker had a sack, a would-be sack that turned into an interception and six tackles during the game, putting tons of pressure on quarterback Cam Newton all day long.

After Miller's sack, he played off of Cam's 'Superman' nickname, as promised prior to the game, with a faux-torn open shirt and a little dance to go with it afterwards.

Asked about the win after the game in a press conference, Miller said, "I think it started in practice. We had a great week of preparation, just like the weeks before. It was hard to get some practice against the type of offense they can run, but overall I think we did pretty well this week and I think it showed in the game."

More important was his answer when asked if he would ever run out of sack dances. "You can never run out of sack dances. It’s always different on every play. The excitement is always different every stadium, every play. I don’t think I’ll ever run out of sack dances. If I do, I’ll just get with Keith Brooking. I’m sure he can show me a couple."

After a superb showing by the defense against the Carolina Panthers, the Broncos defense might once again be an 'Orange Crush.'

The Denver Broncos' offense has been impressive all season long with Peyton Manning at the helm, putting up 21 or more points in every game so far. Against the Carolina Panthers, the Broncos still put up 36 points but were led by a superb defensive performance more than another Peyton Manning show.

During the 36-14 victory, Denver destroyed Cam Newton in just about every facet of the game. The pressure forced Cam into quick decisions, holding the ball for too long, and sack after sack by Von Miller, plus an abysmal 1-5 clip on third down.

Denver Broncos blog Mile High Report was impressed by the defense, even saying that it may be time to return to the classic "Orange Crush" nickname if they can keep that level of dominance up:

I don't know about you folks, but with the way our defense has been dominant on 3rd down, forced sacks, gotten pressure, and forced turnovers----they very well may be as strong as our offense which had a rough day. After seeing this performance today and in recent weeks, I for one am not afraid to proclaim that Broncos Country once again has the "Orange Crush."

The recently Denver defense, as well as the rest of the team, will take on the San Diego Chargers in another AFC West showdown next weekend at Sports Authority Field.

Denver Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil left Sunday's victory over the Carolina Panthers with a strained left shoulder. He will have an MRI on Monday.

The Denver Broncos will find out on Monday the extent of the injury to defensive end Elvis Dumervil's left shoulder, as he will undergo an MRI, according to the Denver Post. The injury, currently diagnosed as a strained left shoulder, occurred during the first half of the team's 36-14 victory against the Carolina Panthers.

Dumervil did return from the locker room after examination, but he did so without pads on. The team had originally called his return questionable before deciding to sit him for the remainder of the game.

He recorded his seventh sack of the season before leaving the game. That was one of seven sacks by the Denver defense against Carolina. Kevin Vickerson had two sacks and Robert Ayers, one of the players who could gain playing time if Dumervil's injury is serious, had one (and two tackles for a loss). Linebacker Von Miller enjoyed a dominant defensive game with six tackles, four tackles for a loss, one sack and one quarterback hit.

Rookie Malik Jackson might also see increased playing time if Dumervil misses any games.

The Denver Broncos notched their fourth straight win on Sunday, defeating the Carolina Panthers, 36-14.

The Denver Broncos improved to 6-3 and won their fourth straight game after blowing out the Carolina Panthers, 36-14, in Week 10. The Panthers opened the game with a Cam Newton touchdown pass to Greg Olsen, but it was all Broncos from there, as Denver reeled off 27 unanswered points to seal it up early in the fourth quarter.

It was a huge day for the Broncos defense and special teams. Those two units contributed more than half (22) of the Broncos points. On special teams, it was return man Trindon Holliday taking it to the house for the second straight week. Holliday was untouched on a 105-yard kick return last week in Cincinnati, but this week he had to do a little more dodging and weaving on his way to a 75-yard punt return. He tip toed down the right sideline, beating the angle by Carolina punter Brad Nortman to get to the end zone. There was a bit of controversy, however, as it appeared Holliday (à la DeSean Jackson) dropped the ball in celebration before he crossed the goal line. All scoring plays are automatically reviewed, but the touchdown was not overturned.

On defense, it was the pass rush that constantly harassed Newton for the full 60 minutes. Von Miller had a huge day and was a persistent source of pressure in the Carolina backfield. In the third quarter, Miller burst through the Carolina offensive line and forced Newton to spin around and throw off-balance to the sideline. As he let it go, Miller dove at his legs and took him down, which also affected the throw. Waiting on the other end was Broncos cornerback Tony Carter, who easily picked off the pass and returned it 40 yards down the sideline for the pick-six.

At one point, the Panthers had just two yards on 20 plays in the second half. Miller had a monster day, finishing with four tackles for loss and a sack. The second-year pass rusher was also part of the pressure that resulted in a Mike Adams sack for a safety, adding to the big day for Denver's defense and resulting in a comical dance from Miller.

All the work put in by the defense and special teams secured the win on a day the Denver offense was relatively quiet. Peyton Manning, however, was effective yet again, hitting Brandon Stokley for an early first quarter touchdown. It was his 420th career touchdown pass and brought him even with Dan Marino in second place on the all-time NFL list.

Fantasy studs

Manning was sharp throughout the day, hitting his targets and completing 27 of 38 attempts for 301 yards and a touchdown. Demaryius Thomas had a big day working with Manning, hauling in nine catches for 135 yards.

Greg Olsen was one of the few bright spots for the Panthers. The veteran tight end finished with nine catches for 102 yards and two touchdowns

Infirmary

Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas injured his knee and was helped off the field. But the big play threat did return to the game.

But did they cover?

The Broncos were favored by 3½ points in most places, and they easily covered.

Up next

The San Diego Chargers, the opponent that started the Broncos winning streak, will visit Denver in Week 11. The Panthers will host the Buccaneers next week.

The Denver Broncos added to their lead in the third quarter, and this time, it was the defense getting in on the act. A 40-yard interception return by Tony Carter pushed the Broncos lead to 24-7, a 17-point lead that would hold as the quarter came to a close.

Carter picked off Carolina quarterback Cam Newton on the right boundary and immediately took it down the sideline for the score. He was never touched as he cruised in for the easy touchdown. It was his second pick of the season, but he got a huge assist from the pass rush put on by Von Miller. Denver has been putting constant pressure on Newton all day, and it was Miller once again who was right in the face of the Panthers QB. Miller burst through the middle of the line, forcing Newton to spin around to avoid the rush. He went to his left, and as he launched the pass off-balance, Miller dove at his legs and brought him down. The pressure and subsequent scramble undoubtedly took something off the pass and Carter was right there on the other end.

The pick-six came right on the heels of a turnover by Peyton Manning. The Broncos offense has not been particularly sharp so far, but 14 points from the defense and special teams has them in control as the game moves to the fourth quarter.

The Denver Broncos lead the Carolina Panthers, 17-7, after one half in Charlotte. The Broncos reeled off 17 unanswered points to take the lead into the locker room, as all three phases contributed once again with Denver going for its fourth straight win.

The Broncos broke the 7-7 tie just seconds into the second quarter. For the second straight week, it was return man Trindon Holliday making the difference on special teams. Holliday took a 76-yard punt from Brad Nortman to the house for the 14-7 lead. The former LSU track star now has three returns for touchdowns this season. Last week, he opened the second half in Cincinnati with a 105-yard kick return, where he was never touched. This time, he had to do a little more dodging and weaving on his way to the end zone. He tip toed down the right sideline, narrowly beating the angle taken by the Panthers punter.

But there was some controversy over whether the touchdown should have counted, as replays showed Holliday dropping the ball at, or before, he crossed the plane. All touchdowns are automatically reviewed, but the officials did not overturn the score. Here's a gif of him hitting the goal line. You decide:
