The Denver Nuggets sent the San Antonio Spurs to just their third home loss of the season with a 99-94 victory on Sunday night. Ty Lawson led the team with 22 points, 11 assists, and 9 rebounds.

The Spurs were down by just three starting with 1:34 left in the game, but one minute later Tim Duncan made a layup to draw the game to 95-94. And that's when Ty Lawson made the clutch 20-footer. Gary Neal missed a three-pointer with just six seconds left in the game. Manu Ginobili wound up fouling Lawson right after that, and both free throws went through the hoop.

Arron Afflalo was second among starters with 14 points while Al Harrington added 16 points off the bench. Andre Miller proved that he liked to shoot, but he was 5-of-18 from the field for 11 points. To be fair, though, everyone liked to shoot on the night, hitting just 41.9 percent from the field.

Timofey Mozgov played just 13 minutes due to rolling his ankle in the third quarter. Kosta Koufos was out and that put George Karl in a spot. Harrington wound up playing 31 minutes, and Chris Andersen received 18.

Tony Parker led the Spurs with 25 points while Manu Ginobili played 24 minutes and scored eight points in his return to the court.

The Nuggets (21-17, 11-9 away) are back at the Pepsi Center on Monday to host the Sacramento Kings.

Denver Nuggets forward Timofey Mozgov can't seem to avoid injury trouble of late -- he missed several games back in February, hurt an ankle on March 2 against Houston, and did so again against San Antonio on Sunday night.

For a team missing a couple of starters, the Denver Nuggets sure haven't been showing it since the All-Star Break ended. The Nuggets lead the San Antonio Spurs at halftime, 49-45, without Danilo Gallinari and Nene, both starters who have missed the last few weeks of the season.

Ty Lawson is leading the way for the Nuggets with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists Arron Afflalo has followed with nine points, but all of those came in the first quarter. Andre Miller has been sharp from off the bench with eight points on 4-of-5 shooting.

Tony Parker leads the Spurs with 12 points while Manu Ginobili has returned to the court for them. He has just three points, but it did provide a spark during the first quarter. Matt Bonner has banged around the boards for six rebounds while contributing eight points.

The Denver Nuggets lead the San Antonio Spurs after one quarter, 25-17. Ty Lawson has scored six points, grabbed five rebounds and dished the ball out for four assists. Arron Afflalo leads the Nuggets with nine points.

Denver got off to a quick start against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night, opening with an 11-2 run. However, the Spurs quickly came back to bring the score to 19-15 with over five minutes left in the quarter. Manu Ginobili and Matt Bonner hit on three three-pointers during that stretch to spark the Spurs back into the game.

However, a four-minute scoreless streak allowed the Nuggets to widen the lead to eight points. It ended on a play by Tim Duncan that had him positioning the ball right onto Chris Andersen's face before making a dunk. Andersen got the better of Duncan at the end of the quarter by defending him as the buzzer went off.

A bit more than halfway through the season, the Denver Nuggets are just on the fringes of landing the playoffs this season right now. With a 20-17 record, Denver is currently slotted for the eight seed in the Western Conference, but they're only 1.5 games ahead of Minnesota and two games ahead of Portland.

After the Western Conference's top two teams, the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs, the rest of the contenders are tightly packed in the standings. While the Nuggets aren't far from not even qualifying for the postseason, they're only 2.5 games behind the conference's third-place team, the Los Angeles Clippers.

Playing well in the second portion of the season will be absolutely key for Denver. While they have no shot of winning the division, finishing strong could allow them to land the No. 4 seed in the playoffs, while stumbling could potentially lead to missing the playoffs entirely.

The Denver Nugget remained in Texas after defeating the Houston Rockets on Friday night so that they could make a trip to face the San Antonio Spurs. On the line this Sunday night is the chance for the Nuggets to start a three-game winning streak.

After a 14-5 start, the Nuggets fell victim to injuries and went 4-12 leading up to the All-Star Break. However, the Nuggets are on the rebound from that February swoon and have won their last two games. They picked up a win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday and then followed that with the victory over the Rockets.

While Danilo Gallinari is still out with an ankle injury, Nene plans on testing his calf and playing on Sunday night. While he hasn't played as great as expected since he signed a five-year contract before the season, Nene would help stabilize a front court that could use his veteran leadership (although, Kenneth Faried has proven he can rebound with the best of them in Nene's place).

The Spurs are out for their own three-game winning streak, but that is to sweep the season series. The Spurs won the first contest, 121-117, back in early January while beating the Nuggets at the Pepsi Center, 114-99, on Feb. 23. This will be their last meeting of the regular season.

In February, the Spurs ran up an 11-game winning streak, but they are just 2-2 in their last four games.

The Denver Nuggets have had their depth seriously tested throughout the season, as injuries to key guys like Danilo Gallinari and Nene have prevented this team from forming a rhythm. However, the Nuggets may be on the verge of receiving some good news on the injury front, as Benjamin Hochman is reporting that Nene may be available on Sunday against the San Antonio Spurs:

Nene has missed the last nine games because of his calf injury. In his absence, the Nuggets have struggled to a 4-5 record. However, Denver has received a boost from rookie forward Kenneth Faried, who has been active on the glass in the absence of Nene. Over the past nine games, Faried has recorded four double-doubles.

Without Nene, Danilo Gallinari , Chris Andersen or Rudy Fernandez, the Denver Nuggets topped the Houston Rockets 117-105 on Friday night at the Toyota Center. The win lifts Denver to 20-17, while the Rockets fall to 21-16.

Ty Lawson keyed the victory for Denver, finishing with 22 points, 15 assists, and seven rebounds. Six other Denver players reached double-figures, including Arron Affalo (17 points) and Corey Brewer (15 points). Kenneth Faried and Andre Miller each had 16 points.
Denver can point to domination on the boards as the reason they won. The Nuggets out-rebounded Houston 49-35, and grabbed 19 offensive boards to Houston's 10 rebounds.
