The last time the Denver Broncos saw wide receiver Eric Decker take the football field, the second-year player was injured on a hit by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison. It was later revealed to be a sprained MCL and not an ACL injury, which was the thought early on. Offseason reports have Decker in good shape for the upcoming season, and he should be able to take part in organized team activities when they start later this spring:

Decker is the No. 2 wide receiver right now, behind only Demaryius Thomas. Depending on how the Broncos draft, a rookie wide receiver could certainly compete with Decker for the second start spot. However, with Peyton Manning under center, the ball will certainly be moved to all of his targets.

Although it probably wouldn't have been the difference between a win and loss, the Denver Broncos surely could have used WR Eric Decker on the field in the 45-10 loss to the New England Patriots. With Decker on the sidelines, the Patriots defense was able to focus more attention on Demaryius Thomas and Eddie Royal.

Despite the fact that the injury appeared to be quite serious following the victory over Pittsburgh, Decker told the Denver Post that the way his knee was improving, he definitely would have tried to play had Denver advanced:

@PostBroncos: Eric Decker said the swelling has gone down significantly in his knee, and had the Broncos advanced, he would have tried to play.

In just his second NFL season, Decker showed some great potential after an injury-riddled rookie season. Decker recorded 44 catches for 612 yards and 8 TD's. Decker did see his role diminish with the emergence of Thomas during the latter part of the season.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker suffered what was believed to be a significant knee injury in Sunday afternoon's win agains the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime to advance in the 2012 NFL playoffs. Broncos head coach John Fox today confirmed a previous report that the injury Decker suffered was just an MCL sprain and he is currently "day-to-day" for the matchup with the New England Patriots this weekend.

Decker injured his knee in the second quarter when he attempted to make a catch over the middle and was hit by Steelers linebacker James Harrison. That pass was Decker's only target of the game. Decker led the Broncos in the regular season in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns so if he is unavailable against the Patriots, it could be a big hit to the Broncos passing game.

While Demaryius Thomas and Tim Tebow get ready to face old coach Josh McDaniels and the New England Patriots on Saturday, another member of McDaniel's 2012 NFL Draft class won't be able to participate. Wide receiver Eric Decker will be sidelined due to a strained MCL, reports the Denver Post.

Decker received the injury when he attempted to make a catch during the second quarter. However, James Harrison delivered a big but legal hit on Decker, who appeared to have made the catch. Replay overturned the call.

For now, the Broncos have Demaryius Thomas, Eddie Royal and Matthew Willis as the only wide receivers on the roster. Will we have a roster move announced early in the week or will the team tough it out until they learn how long Decker is out for?

Eric Decker was hit at the knees on a passing play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon, but the injury may not be as serious as it first appeared, according to a report from the Post's Mike Klis:

Decker likely suffered a sprain of his medial cruciate ligament (MCL) and not an ACL tear.

While Decker's short term availability may be in question, this is very good news in the long term if it is accurate. An ACL tear would have made for a far more significant rehab period.

Decker had 44 receptions for 612 yards and eight touchdowns during the regular season. Despite his absence, Tim Tebow was able to throw for over 300 yards against the Steelers.

Although his production has decreased over the past month, Eric Decker has been a valuable WR for the Denver Broncos throughout the season. If the Broncos are going to knock off the Pittsburgh Steelers and advance in the playoffs, they will have to do so without the services of Decker. According to the Denver Broncos Twitter account, Decker won't return after injuring his knee on a hit by James Harrison:

@Denver_Broncos: WR Eric Decker has a knee injury and will not return.

Decker had a very productive season for the Broncos, with 44 catches for 612 yards and eight TD's. However, over the last three weeks of the season, Decker only had two receptions, as Demaryius Thomas emerged as the primary threat for Tim Tebow in the passing attack.
