After the Denver Broncos defeated the San Diego Chargers two weeks ago, 16-13 in overtime, one of the bits of trivia bandied about concerned Tim Tebow. The last time the Chargers had won a game was when Tebow played the second half against San Diego and ultimately failed in his comeback attempts. After that point, the Broncos went on a 5-1 run with Tebow as the quarterback and the Chargers were 0-6.

After Monday night's 38-14 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, that six-game skid was snapped. Philip Rivers threw three touchdown passes and had nearly 300 passing yards. Ryan Mathews rushed for over 100 yards and had a score (as did Mike Tolbert). Malcom Floyd, Vincent Jackson and Antonio Gates caught 14 of Rivers' 22 completions. This was exactly the kind of win the team needed.

The win now has the Chargers tied with the Kansas City Chiefs, both with 5-7 records. The Broncos and the Oakland Raiders are tied for first, but the Broncos hold the tiebreaker with a better winning percentage against division teams.

The NFL Playoff picture is taking shape and the Denver Broncos are certainly in the postseason right now. They hold the AFC West lead.

If the NFL Playoffs began next week, the Denver Broncos would be the AFC West winner and the No. 4 seed in the AFC. All of the other division leaders (the New England Patriots, the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans) are 9-3. None has battled back as much as the Broncos have had to do this season.

The Broncos moved to 7-5 and the Oakland Raiders fell to 7-5 after a 34-14 loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Broncos hold the AFC West's playoff spot because they have a better division win percentage than the Raiders do. That is the tiebreaker since the Broncos and Raiders split the season series. The Broncos are currently 3-2 against the division while the Raiders are 2-2.

The Raiders are now fighting for a playoff spot, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are 9-3 and the Cincinnati Bengals are 7-5, like Oakland. The Bengals hold that spot because they have a better conference record.

In the NFC, the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers have already clinched their divisions. The Packers are 12-0 after a late victory over the New York Giants and are look to continue perfection all the way to another Super Bowl victory.

The playoff standings after Week 13 (Monday's game has little bearing on this):

The Denver Broncos own a share of the AFC West lead after improving to 7-5 on Sunday. They hold the tiebreaker over the Oakland Raiders.

The Denver Broncos defeated the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon, 35-32. That gave the Broncos a five-game winning streak and seven wins on the season. It also gave the Broncos a share of the AFC West lead with the Oakland Raiders.

Oakland had entered the week with sole possession of the division, but the Miami Dolphins surprised them with a 34-14 victory on Sunday. The Dolphins had a 34-0 lead until eight minutes were left in the game. Carson Palmer threw two touchdowns passes in roughly four minutes, but it was far too little far too late into the game.

Even though both teams are 7-5, the Broncos are technically in the division lead because they have a better win percentage against the division (the Broncos and the Raiders split the season series). The Raiders are 2-2 with two games left in the division while the Broncos are 3-2 with a game against the Kansas City Chiefs on the last day of the season.

The Chiefs defeated the Chicago Bears, 10-3. Tyler Palko started the game for the Bears but got the quick hook. Kyle Orton entered the game, only to exit immediately after his debut with an injured finger. The Chiefs are 5-7 after the victory.

The San Diego Chargers remain at the bottom of the division for now. They play the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football to close out the week.
