The Denver Broncos are now the No. 16 team in Real Clear Sports' NFL Power Ranking Averages output. Their actual average of eight power rankings has the team at 16.28. There was no real outlier this week, as four rankings had the team at No. 15 and the other four had them in one spot each from Nos. 16-19. CBS Sports gave the Broncos that weekly low ranking.

Ranking ahead of the Broncos from the AFC West was the Oakland Raiders at No. 14. The New York Jets, who lost to the Broncos last week, check in at No. 15. The Philadelphia Eagles weren't quite able to overcome the Broncos, coming in at No. 17 (and the average of the eight rankings did come out to a straight 17). The San Diego Chargers fell to No. 21 while the Kansas City Chiefs found themselves in 24th place.

With a victory over the Chargers on Sunday, the Broncos should move into the top 15 -- something thought nigh impossible when the team was 1-4.

The five-writer panel over at ESPN has released its NFL Week 12 Power Rankings list, and the Denver Broncos have jumped up two spots to No. 17 overall. At that spot, the Broncos are listed as the ninth-best team in the AFC. Here is what Paul Kuharsky has to say about the team this week:

SB Nation's Joel Thorman has released his Week 12 NFL Power Rankings, and the Denver Broncos have surged up to No. 16 this week, rising four spots from where they sat last week. The Broncos are only two spots behind the division-leading Oakland Raiders, and despite all of the conjecture surrounding Tim Tebow, Thorman has not lost sight of the facts:

16. Denver Broncos (5-5, LW: 20): Say what you want about Tim Tebow, but the Broncos are 4-1 under him and a game out of first place.

Here are the top and bottom five teams in the NFL, according to SB Nation's rankings:

5. Houston Texans (7-3, LW: 4)

29. Carolina Panthers (2-8, LW: 28)

The Denver Broncos made a six-spot jump in the latest CBSSports.com NFL power rankings, moving from No. 25 to No. 19. It appears that Pete Prisco is finally buying into the Broncos as a winning team. He had moved them only a couple of spots last week after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs. It appears a victory over the New York Jets is what turned him.

But Prisco correctly notes what's been powering this resurgent Broncos team:

Dare they say playoffs? Tim Tebow has pumped life into the Broncos, but it's the defense that has carried them the past month.

The defense has been solid and is led by players like Champ Bailey and Brian Dawkins. But it is rookie linebacker Von Miller who has been the empowering force on the team. He has 9-1/2 sacks through 10 games and could break the rookie record of 14-1/2. Maybe even shatter it.

The Oakland Raiders are the only AFC West ahead of the Broncos. But, of course, one late comeback victory over the New York Giants has the Eagles ahead of the Broncos. Can we call that a stretch?

As Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos continue to rise, so too does their place in the weekly NFL power rankings.

The Denver Broncos are 5-5 overall and 4-1 since Tim Tebow took over as the team's starting quarterback. As a result, NFL power rankings have steadily moved the Broncos up over the last several weeks. Last week, the Broncos rose to No. 20 or right around there in most of the major rankings.

At this point, the only AFC West team that deserves to be ranked ahead of the Broncos is the Oakland Raiders, who control the division. The San Diego Chargers are in a free fall after losing to the Chicago Bears, the team's fifth straight loss. And the Kansas City Chiefs are now dealing with life without Matt Cassel, not that things were all that great with him under center before his hand injury ended his season.

Potentially, the Raiders should move into the top 15 of the rankings this week, while the Broncos should slot in anywhere between Nos. 16-20. The Buffalo Bills were humiliated by the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and should fall below the Broncos in those rankings that had them higher last week.

One other thing to look for is how far the New York Jets drop after the loss to the Broncos. They are now on a two-game losing streak and 5-5 overall.
