The bracket for the 2011 FCS playoffs was released Sunday morning, and after defeating Montana State 36-10 on Saturday in the 111th Brawl of the Wild, the Montana Grizzlies were awarded the No. 4 overall seed. Montana State, despite finishing the season with a 9-2 record, will go unseeded, though they will have a first round bye.

In the second round, Montana will take on the winner of the opening round game between Tennessee Tech and Central Arkansas, while Montana St will take on New Hampshire in their second round match up. Interestingly enough, a rematch between the Grizzles and Bobcats is possible, as both teams were placed in the upper half of the bracket. If Montana wins out and reaches the semifinals, they could face Montana State if the Bobcats beat New Hampshire and then go on to defeat, presumably, Sam Houston State, who claimed the No. 1 overall seed. But that potential rematch is far, far down the road, and for the time being, both Montana and Montana State have more pressing issues to worry about.

Here's a printable version of the bracket, and here is the bracket in full.

The 2011 FCS Playoffs bracket is about to come out, but what do the latest projections hold for Montana and Montana State?

The 2011 FCS Playoffs bracket will be announced at 8:00 a.m MT on Sunday, Nov. 20 (ESPNU). The Montana Grizzlies and the Montana State Bobcats will both be heading to the playoffs, but in a different order than had been expected in previous weeks. The Grizzlies defeated the Bobcats on Saturday, 36-10, forcing a co-Big Sky Conference championship between the two teams. Both finished 9-2 overall and 7-1 in the conference. By nature of handing the Bobcats their only conference loss, the Grizzlies won the conference's automatic berth. Montana is expected to receive one of the five national seeds while Montana State will still host a game in the second round.

Craig Haley of the Sports Network projects his bracket (PDF) and has Montana taking the No. 5 overall seed. In this projection, the Grizzlies will face New Hampshire in the second round. For Montana State, Haley sees Lehigh traveling to Bozeman for a second round game.

The four other national sees are No. 1 Sam Houston State, No. 2 North Dakota State, No. 3 Northern Iowa and No. 4 Georgia Southern. With the way this bracket is set up, Montana State would face Nos. 2 and 3 while Nos. 1, 4 and 5 are potential championship game opponents. Wouldn't it be something if Montana and Montana State faced each other in the championship game?

The Big Sky might have had a third team in the playoffs, but Portland State's 48-33 loss to Weber State ended any chance at that happening. The Vikings finished the season at 7-4.

The 2011 FCS Playoffs don't start until Nov. 26, but bracket projections are already out.

The 2011 FCS Playoffs begin on Nov. 26 and there's still some time before the bracket is set, but the Sports Network is already taking a stab (PDF) at how things will shape up. The Montana St. Bobcats and the Montana Grizzlies are expected to receive byes to the second round. The Bobcats are the No. 1 FCS team in the country and if they defeat Big Sky conferencemate Montana on Saturday, the No. 1 ranking should be theirs for the tournament.

Montana will still host a second-round tournament game even without an upset of the Bobcats. They are projected to face Wofford on Dec. 3. Montana State, in this projection, will face the winner of Indiana State-Central Arkansas. The Bobcats could then face either Georgia Southern or Northern Iowa in a semifinal game. After the semifinals on Dec. 16 and 17, the playoffs take a break until Jan. 7 when the championship game takes place at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Tx.

Will either of the Montana schools be able to run the gamut and and pick up a national championship?
