In a game marked by plenty of unusual but entertaining plays -- laterals on interception returns, several onside kicks, a quarterback attempting to kick an extra point -- the AFC was eventually able to put some distance between itself and the NFC and won 59-41. Wide receiver Brandon Marshall took home MVP honors after catching six passes for 177 yards and four touchdowns.

Several Denver Broncos players factored into the AFC's victory. Linebacker Von Miller finished with five tackles and the team's only sack; Brian Dawkins had three tackles; Champ Bailey had three tackles and recovered a fumble; Willis McGahee carried the ball four times for 23 yards and had one reception for 20 yards.

The AFC managed to break open what had been a close game with a three-touchdown run to start the fourth quarter, which included a pick six.

The 2012 Pro Bowl gets underway on Sunday night in Hawaii one week before the big game, Super Bowl XLVI, takes place in Indianapolis, Ind. It's a tale of two different cities that are hosting big-time NFL games. However, the Pro Bowl is only a big-game in conception only. It's an exhibition game between two teams that don't play much defense, if at all.

However, this year NBC is offering the game via live online streaming and on select mobile devices. Now there's no need to be tied to a TV for what could be a rousing offensive game. Throw in that the NFL is allowing players to tweet during the game, from a specially designated, and this could be better than the usual Pro Bowl.

Game time/date: 5:00 p.m. MT, Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012

The Denver Broncos have six total players in the 2012 Pro Bowl, three as starters and three who made it as replacement fill-ins. The starters are defensive lineman Elvis Dumervil, rookie linebacker Von Miller and cornerback Champ Bailey. Dumervil overcame injuries early in the season and wound up with 9.5 sacks on the season. He had missed all of 2010 due to injury. Miller recorded 11.5 sacks as a rookie and quickly became a leader on defense. Bailey, as always, proved to be one of the best cover corners in the league.

The three replacement players are running back Willis McGahee, offensive tackle Ryan Clady and safety Brian Dawkins.
Tim Tebow was the second alternate at quarterback and lost out on making it into the Pro Bowl with Andy Dalton taking Tom Brady's place in the game. He would have been unlikely to play in the game, anyway, with the chest injuries he sustained against the Patriots a couple of weeks ago.

Denver Broncos safety Brian Dawkins expects to play in the 2012 NFL Pro Bowl despite missing the playoffs while dealing with a neck injury, according to Vic Lombardi of CBS4 in Denver. Dawkins told Lombardi that he will play in the Pro Bowl in spite of his neck issues, although he's still unsure of whether he'll continue to play next season or retire.

Dawkins, 38, appeared in 14 games for Denver in 2011, including 12 starts. He played well for most of the season, recording 38 tackles and three sacks, but he couldn't finish strong down the stretch as the injuries impacted his play. After missing both of Denver's playoff games, though, it appears that he doesn't want his season to end due to the injuries.

The safety's contract runs through 2013, but there's a general expectation that Dawkins could retire this offseason. He's already one of the older players in the entire league as he nears age 40, and the injuries may be too much to handle for a guy that's been in the league since 1996.

The 2012 Pro Bowl rosters are out and there are several snubs who played exceptionally well against the Denver Broncos this season. SB Nation's Joel Thorman broke down several of these Pro Bowl snubs. First up is Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, who was passed over for New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning. This seems to be a case of choosing a big name over the player who performed better. As for what Stafford did against the the Broncos, he was 21-of-30 for 267 yards and three touchdown passes.

The other snub was New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez. The San Diego Chargers' Antonio Gates made the roster over Hernandez, having less production in fewer games played in compared to Hernandez. Hernandez caught nine passes for 129 yards and one touchdown two weeks ago against the Broncos. Gates, meanwhile, didn't play in the first game against the Broncos and then had six passes for 49 yards and a touchdown in the second game.
