When the odds makers started making the line for the Air Force Falcons' game against the Boise St. Broncos, the former wasn't shown much respect since they were underdogs by 30 points. The Falcons kept the game close at times and always had the Broncos on alert. Still, all that resulted in was a 37-26 loss.

The Falcons went down early to the Broncos after Kellen Moore threw a touchdown on the first drive of the game, but momentum shifted in the second quarter when Broncos running back Doug Martin fumbled the ball. Air Force quarterback Tim Jefferson completed a 90-yard drive by punching the ball in from the one-yard line.

Down 20-10 at halftime, the Falcons went on to bring the game to within seven points on two different occasions. However, the Broncos answered back each time the Falcons scored. But the Falcons rushing attack frustrated the Broncos defense all day long, including several long downs converted into firsts. The team collectively rushed for 275 yards, including 104 by Mike DeWitt.

Tim Jefferson was just 6-of-14 for 132 yards and a touchdown, but he also had two touchdown runs. Kellen Moore, on the other hand, was 23-of-29 for 282 yards and three touchdowns. He picked up his 45th career win, tying Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy.

The 7-0 Broncos take next Saturday off while the 3-4 Falcons receive a breather with New Mexico on the slate for next week.

After playing the Boise St. Broncos close for the first quarter and a half, the Air Force Falcons are seemingly letting the game slip away at halftime. The Broncos lead, 20-10.

A defensive struggle saw the first quarter end with the Broncos in a 7-0 lead, but in the second quarter Doug Martin's fumble turned the momentum in favor of Air Force. Tim Jefferson led the team to a touchdown on a 90-yard drive. However, Kellen Moore immediately responded with a touchdown pass to Matt Miller on a 19-yard pass.

Air Force attempted a fake punt on the next drive, but Mikel Hunter fumbled the ball after a hit by Bryan Douglas. Hunter White picked up the ball at Air Force's 16-yard line and returned it for a touchdown and the 20-7 lead.

Parker Herrington kicked a 37-yard field goal at the end of the half to make it 20-10.

The Air Force Falcons and the Boise St. Broncos are locked in a defensive battle through the early part of the second quarter. The two teams are now tied at seven after Tim Jefferson had a short rush for the score.

Air Force gained possession of the ball when Boise State's Doug Martin fumbled the ball at the Air Force 13-yard line. The Falcons recovered it at the 10-yard line and worked things from there. On his first pass of the game, Tim Jefferson connected with Zack Kauth for a 32-yard gain. Wes Cobb converted a 4th-and-1 later in the drive while Jonathan Warzeka had a 15-yard run on 3rd-and-9.

There were back-to-back delay of game penalties by the Falcons, but Mike DeWitt brought the ball to the one-yard line before Jefferson punched the ball in.

The Broncos, as of now, don't appear ready to cover the 30-point spread.

The Boise St. Broncos struck first in their game with the Air Force Falcons. Quarterback Kellen Moore went a perfect 5-of-5 for 57 yards and a touchdown pass on the drive. Moore effortlessly placed the ball into Tyler Shoemaker's hands for the score, mostly as a result of the Air Force safeties not helping in pass coverage on the left side of the end zone.

On Air Force's ensuing drive, the Falcons started things off with a 23-yard run by Jonathan Warzeka and reached as far as the Boise State 35-yard line, but the drive stalled and wound up at Boise 49-yard line after three straight plays for negative yards. Tim Jefferson was sacked for a loss of eight yards on the final play before the punt.

The line has moved to 30 points, but the Falcons could make this a more competitive game than the odds makers believe it will be.
Former Air Force Falcons legendary Hall of Fame head coach believes that Air Force has a chance to upset the Boise St. Broncos. Nevermind that Air Force is a 31.5 under dog, DeBerry said that he looks forward to playing teams much better:

"You want to play a team that everybody believes is 40 points better than you. This is what you dream about if you're a competitor. This is an opportunity for greatness."

There is also the opportunity to get embarrassed against the No. 5 team in the country since Air Force has given up 100 points in their past two games and Boise State has won 79 of 81 games at home. DeBerry's optimism comes from the 1996 game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish that saw Air Force upset the No. 8 ranked Irish 20-17 in overtime while entering the game as a 20-point underdog.

DeBerry's most compelling point to why Air Force could win is due to the option offense:

"They don't have enough time to prepare for what we're going to show them," DeBerry said of the Broncos. "Yes, they had all week, but that's not long enough. That's an advantage for Air Force."

Boise State may struggle against the Air Force run-option attack since it is the first time they have ever seen that, however the Air Force rush defense is not what it was during that 1996 season. This is sport so there is always a chance for an upset, but there are not too many people who share the same view as DeBerry.
