<p>The <a href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/colorado-buffaloes" class="sbn-auto-link">Colorado Buffaloes</a> went into the "Horseshoe" on Saturday afternoon and left embarrassed in a <a href="http://denver.sbnation.com/colorado-buffaloes/2011/9/23/2445653/colorado-vs-ohio-state-football-preview-recap" target="_blank">37-17 loss to the Ohio St. Buckeyes</a>. Ohio State <a href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/132058/braxton-miller" class="sbn-auto-link">Braxton Miller</a> proved to much to contain while running back Jordan Hall also proved effective on the ground and in the return game (90-yard kick return to set up a touchdown). The Buffs didn't go to <a href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/35791/rodney-stewart" class="sbn-auto-link">Rodney Stewart</a> all that much, which may <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/KyleRingo/status/117751831727308801" target="_blank">have been a result of a shoulder injury</a>.</p>
<p>With the loss, the Buffs drop to 1-3. They return to Folsom Field next week to host the <a href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/washington-st-cougars" class="sbn-auto-link">Washington St. Cougars</a>.</p>
<p>Here's the rest of Saturday's Pac-12 schedule:</p>

<p>The <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/colorado-buffaloes">Colorado Buffaloes</a> had just about everything go wrong in their 37-17 loss to the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/ohio-st-buckeyes">Ohio St. Buckeyes</a>. From offensive scarcity to mental lapses on special teams to a freshman quarterback running over the Buffs defense, it was all there.</p>
<p>The Buckeyes took advantage of a short field all day, as none of their scoring drives were over 50 yards long. The first score came after a rugby punt failed and left the Buckeyes with only 43 yards to go. Jordan Hall, who rushed 18 times for 87 yards, put the ball in the end zone for the early lead. He would later have a 90-yard kick return to set up a rushing touchdown for <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/114089/carlos-hyde">Carlos Hyde</a>.</p>
<p>Ohio State true freshman quarterback <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/132058/braxton-miller">Braxton Miller</a> completed just seven passes, but two of them were touchdown throws to Devin Smith. Miller rushed the ball 16 times for 78 yards.</p>
<p>The Buffs were forced to throw for much of the game, as <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/35791/rodney-stewart">Rodney Stewart</a> carried the ball just nine times for 59 yards. <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/35782/tyler-hansen">Tyler Hansen</a> put the ball in the air 39 times and completed 22 of them. He threw two touchdown passes.</p>
<p>Still Stewart had a muffed punt return at the end of the second quarter that ended any momentum the Buffs had from Tyler Hansen's desperation touchdown throw to <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/6812/toney-clemons">Toney Clemons</a>.</p>
<p>Colorado (1-3) hosts the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/washington-st-cougars">Washington St. Cougars</a> next week.</p>

<p>The <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/colorado-buffaloes">Colorado Buffaloes</a> appeared to have the momentum going into halftime after they scored late in the second quarter. On the ensuing <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/ohio-st-buckeyes">Ohio St. Buckeyes</a> drive, the Buffs made the stop on third down with seconds left on the clock. Buffs head coach Jon Embree decided to call a time, and that's when it all started to go wrong.</p>
<p><a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/35791/rodney-stewart">Rodney Stewart</a> called for the fair catch on the punt and had to run up to receive the ball. Only, he didn't do that. He hit into his own teammate and then muffed the catch. A pile-up wound up giving the Buckeyes the ball at Colorado' 11-yard line. <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/132058/braxton-miller">Braxton Miller</a> ran 10 yards to put the ball at the one-yard line, allowing <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/114084/drew-basil">Drew Basil</a> to hit the 18-yard field goal.</p>
<p>The Buffs are down at halftime, 20-7. <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/players/35782/tyler-hansen">Tyler Hansen</a> is 10-of-17 for 97 yards and a touchdown, but the running game is nonexistent. Stewart has rushed three times for 11 yards.</p>

<p>Can the Colorado Buffaloes score a major upset in a non-conference game against the Ohio St. Buckeyes? Will Oregon State overcome UCLA for its first win of the season, or will the Bruins finally care and come away with a resounding victory? All that and more this week in Pac-12 play.</p> <p>Now that <a target="_blank" href="http://denver.sbnation.com/colorado-buffaloes/2011/9/20/2439422/pac-12-expansion-college-football-realignment">Pac-12 expansion is dead</a> for the time being, it's time to shift the focus back onto the gridiron. It's conference play for all the teams that play this week. Only the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/colorado-buffaloes">Colorado Buffaloes</a> are playing out of conference, and that will be a tough test in Columbus, OH, against the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/ohio-st-buckeyes">Ohio St. Buckeyes</a>. Stick with our <a target="_blank" href="http://denver.sbnation.com/colorado-buffaloes/2011/9/23/2445653/colorado-vs-ohio-state-football-preview-recap">StoryStream</a> for coverage of that game. <p>Here's the rest of Saturday's Pac-12 schedule:</p>
<p><b><a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/ucla-bruins">UCLA Bruins</a> (1-2) vs. <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/oregon-st-beavers">Oregon St. Beavers</a> (0-2), 1:30 p.m. MT</b> - It hasn't been an easy season so far for either team. Rick Neuheisel is on the hot seat at UCLA following a 1-2 start. His Bruins lost to Texas last week, 49-20. The Beavers, well, they lost in overtime to FCS Sacramento State to open the season and then were blanked, 35-0, by Wisconsin two weeks ago. A bye saved them from a defeat last week.</p>
<p><b><a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/california-golden-bears">California Golden Bears</a> (3-0) vs. <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/washington-huskies">Washington Huskies</a> (2-1), 1:30 p.m. MT</b> - The Bears had a nice romp against the Presbyterian Blue Hose last week, 63-12, but they needed overtime to defeat Colorado the week before. The Huskies allowed 51 points to Nebraska last week, but they also put up 38 against the Blackshirts.</p>
<p><b>No. 23 <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/usc-trojans">USC Trojans</a> (3-0) vs. <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/arizona-st-sun-devils">Arizona St. Sun Devils</a> (2-1), 8:15 p.m. MT, ESPN</b> - After two uninspiring wins to start the season, the Trojans turned in a 38-17 victory over Syracuse last week. The Sun Devils lost on the road to Illinois last week, 17-14.</p>
<p><b>No. 10 <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/oregon-ducks">Oregon Ducks</a> (2-1) vs. <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/teams/arizona-wildcats">Arizona Wildcats</a> (1-2), 8:15 p.m. MT, ESPN2 </b>- After a season-opening loss to LSU, the Ducks easily dispatched Nevada and Missouri State, combining for 125 points to 27. The Wildcats had little few problems with Northern Arizona, but has since games to ranked teams in Oklahoma State and Stanford. This'll be a tough one for them to crack.</p>
