The Denver Broncos received encouraging news on the wide receiver front during Wednesday's practice. Eddie Royal, out since early in the second game of the season, returned to practice, tweets Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post. Royal injured his groin early in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 18.

In Royal's absence, Eric Decker took over as the starter opposite Brandon Lloyd. During the game Royal left with the injury, Decker had five receptions for 113 yards and two touchdown receptions. He added two more touchdown receptions against the Packers.

The Broncos will now need to determine how to go forward at receiver. Does Royal regain his starting role despite Decker's strong performance in his absence? With Tim Tebow under center now will John Fox and Mike McCoy want to run more three wide receiver sets and put Royal back in the slot? We have two weeks to see how this plays out.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Eddie Royal will be out for at least two games and maybe even as many as four, according to the Denver Post's Mike Klis. Royal's strained groin should keep him out for games on the road against the Tennessee Titans and the Green Bay Packers. However, Klis believes the timetable will more likely be four weeks. That means he would miss out on a home game against the San Diego Chargers before the bye week allows him to return to action against the Miami Dolphins.

While Tim Tebow was forced into action as an emergency wide receiver, expect the Broncos to bring in some players on Tuesday for tryouts. The team could also turn to the practice squad and promote Eron Riley. Either way, the Broncos will need to cut someone to add an extra receiver to the roster.

Eric Decker stands to gain the most from this injury, as he will remain one of the team's starting wide receivers. If Brandon Lloyd is still unable to go because of his groin injury, Matthew Willis will also move into a starter's role.

The injuries won't stop hitting the Denver Broncos. First rookie tight end Julius Thomas left with an ankle injury, and he was the team's fourth wide receiver for this game. Then in the second quarter, Eddie Royal ran a route along the sidelines and then collapsed with what appeared to be a painful groin injury. Two trainers had to help him off the field.

As a result, the Broncos had to put Tim Tebow in the game as the slot receiver. The only healthy wide receivers for the Broncos are Eric Decker and Matthew Willis. Tebow lined up on the next play, but Orton handed off to Lance Ball for a loss of four yards.

Tebow is going to need to learn on the fly, though he has caught passes in warmups over the last two games. The Broncos lead, 7-0.
