Another game against the Houston Astros, another victory for the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies are now on a five-game winning streak, taking this latest one 7-6 in 10 innings.

Neither team had scored since the top of the fifth inning. In the bottom of the 10th, former Rockies prospect Aneury Rodriguez entered the game for Houston. He struck out Carlos Gonzalez, but then walked Troy Tulowitzki. Jonathan Herrera, Tuesday night's hero, pinch-hit for Matt Belisle, Tuesday night's winning pitcher, and singled to put runners on the corners.

Newly acquired Kevin Kozmanoff came to the plate with a chance to win it. During the at-bat, Herrera moved to second on a wild pitch, which eventually led to an intentional walk. Eliezer Alfonzo had a chance to win the game, but all he did was watch as Rodriguez threw a wild pitch wide of the plate, allowing Tulowitzki to score the winning run.

The Rockies knocked around Wandy Rodriguez for six runs in six innings. Tulowitzki (26) and Carlos Gonzalez (23) each hit two-run home runs off Rodriguez. In the first inning, Dexter Fowler tripled in a run and then scored on a Gonzalez single.

Aaron Cook allowed six runs in five innings, including a solo shot to Clint Barmes. Matt Belisle picked up his second straight win, his ninth of the season.

The Rockies (63-68, 35-33 home) have Thursday off before heading to Los Angeles for another series with the Dodgers.

Kevin Kouzmanoff's time in Triple-A Colorado Springs was short-lived--if he ever went there at all. On Wednesday, the Colorado Rockies promoted Kouzmanoff, whom they acquired from the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday for a player to be named later and cash, from Triple-A Colorado Springs. The corresponding roster move was to demote infielder Chris Nelson from the big league squad. Kouzmanoff is in today's lineup.

Kouzmanoff, who played high school ball in Evergreen, CO, appears as though he will be given a shot to play everyday at third base. Ian Stewart struggled in his stints with the Rockies and is down on the farm and injured. Chris Nelson has had his moments at the plate and in the field, but not too many. Ty Wigginton has the ability to play elsewhere in the field.

While hitting just .221 with a .615 OPS in the majors this year, Kozumanoff has hit .275 with a .734 OPS in 96 late appearances at Coors Field.

Will the Colorado Rockies make it five victories in a row? After Jonathan Herrera hit a two-run home run to break the 6-6 tie on Tuesday night, the Rockies held on to win, 8-6. It had been nearly two months since the Rockies won four straight games.

If they sweep the Houston Astros on Wednesday, the Rockies will need to do it with Wandy Rodriguez (9-9, 3.31 ERA) throwing against them. Rodriguez may be in a Rockies uniform come Thursday afternoon, as the team placed a waiver claim on him. The Rockies and Astros have until Thursday at 11:00 a.m. to work out a deal or to see Rodriguez pulled off waivers.

Rodriguez is 2-2 with a 2.52 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP in four August starts. He just threw eight shutout innings against the San Francisco in a 6-0 victory on Aug. 19. In his other victory, he came up with six scoreless innings. In his two losses, though, he's allowed five runs each time (in the second loss only two were earned).

In his career at Coors, Rodriguez is 3-2 in six career starts. He holds a 3.62 ERA and has allowed just one home run in 32 innings.

Aaron Cook (3-7, 5.23 ERA) had the offense with him in his last start, defeating the Marlins, 12-5. He did allowed three runs on nine hits (two home runs), but he went 7-2/3 innings. Cook's contract comes off the books this offseason, which would make a possible Paulino acquisition a swap on the roster, essentially.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. MT.

It hasn't happened since June, but the Colorado Rockies have won four straight games following their 8-6 victory over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night. While the game was Alex White's debut for the Rockies, Jonathan Herrera turned into the night's hero with a two-run home run in the seventh inning, breaking the 6-6 tie. It was just Herrera's third homer of the season.

Alex White (0-0, 7.50 ERA) doesn't have the prettiest line, having allowed five runs on seven hits and four walks in six innings. Three of the five runs did score on two home runs, but White was inducing ground balls throughout the game. He had nine ground ball outs in total. A bit of sloppy defense prevented other ground balls from turning into outs.

Fortunately, the Rockies were able to strike against Bud Norris early and often. Troy Tulowitzki and Todd Helton struck in the first with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly, respectively. Seth Smith followed in the third and fifth innings with a run-scoring fielder's choice and a two-run home run (15). Carlos Gonzalez broke the 5-5 tie in the sixth with an RBI single.

Matt Belisle relieved White and allowed an RBI single in the seventh inning to blow the game. But with Herrera's home run in the bottom of the inning, Belisle settled down in the eighth. Rex Brothers pitched the ninth inning for his first career save.

The Rockies (62-68, 34-33 home) close out this series with an afternoon contest at 1:10 p.m. MT. Wandy Rodriguez and Aaron Cook are the scheduled starters.

The Colorado Rockies did some housekeeping in preparation for Alex White's debut on Tuesday night. In order to activate White, the Rockies placed Edgmer Escalona on the 15-day disabled list with a right rotator cuff strain. Juan Nicasio was moved from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day list while he recovers from a broken neck.

Nicasio's move the 60-day is not unexpected, as it opens up a spot on the 40-man roster. Escalona's injury doesn't appear serious, but a trip to the disabled list isn't bad for him. White will be activated from the 60-day disabled list, having had a finger injury back in May.

Tuesday's game is scheduled to being at 6:40 p.m. MT. Get a ticket to the game if you still can. Don't you want to be there when Alex White makes his Colorado Rockies debut? It only happens once!

After several rehab start for the Double-A Tulsa Drillers, RHP Alex White will make his Colorado Rockies debut on Tuesday night. White, acquired from the Cleveland Indians as part of the Ubaldo Jimenez trade, began his professional career as the 15th overall pick in the 2009 MLB Draft, but his first pro season had to wait until 2010. He reached Double-A Akron that season and went 10-10 with a 2.45 ERA and 117 strikeouts in 26 appearances (25 starts).

The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder started the 2011 season with the Indians' Triple-A Columbus team and was 1-0 with a 1.90 ERA in four starts. At the end of April, White got the call to the show and made three starts for the Indians. He went six innings in each of his first two starts and allowed a total of five runs. Then in his third start, White came down with right middle finger soreness after the third inning.

White went on the disabled list and didn't resume throwing until shortly before he moved to Colorado. The Rockies opted to send him to Tulsa for his rehab assignment since Colorado Springs is not the place to do that for a young pitcher. After some trouble in his first start, White turned in solid performances after that. He will take over Jason Hammel's spot in the rotation, though no roster move has been announced yet to allow White on the roster.

White throws a two-seam fastball in the low-90s, but can reach 95. He also works with a splitter and a slider in his repertoire. The struggling Houston Astros would appear to give him a good opportunity for a nice debut, but baseball isn't that tidy.

The Astros will have Bud Norris (6-8, 3.61 ERA) on the mound to oppose the rookie. He's been all over the map in his August starts. Twice he has allowed three runs in five innings, games the Astros won. But the Brewers did strike for six runs against him in another start. He also threw seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts against the Dodgers--only to see the Astros lose, 1-0. Norris is 15th in strikeouts per nine innings with 8.6, which could pose a problem for the Rockies in their first look at Norris.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. MT.

The Colorado Rockies can only dream of playing the Houston Astros for the rest of the season. They defeated the 'Stros on Monday night, 9-5. The game was already out of reach at the end of the first inning, the Rockies holding a 6-0 lead.

Astros starting pitcher Brett Myers (3-13, 4.95 ERA) took his first career loss against the Rockies after allowing seven runs over the first two innings. He kept them off the board through five innings before one-time Rockies prospect Aneury Rodriguez entered the game in relief. Rodriguez has two runs in his boxscore line, but David Carpenter was on the mound when those two runs crossed the plate.

The Rockies offense clicked in the first inning when Eric Young Jr. started things with a walk. Dexter Fowler doubled to place men on second and third. Carlos Gonzalez followed with a two-run double. Todd Helton singled in Carlos Gonzalez and moved to third on Ty Wigginton's double. An infield single by Mark Ellis pushed Helton across the plate. Then starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin doubled in Wigginton and Chris Iannetta, who reached on a fielder's choice, for the fifth and sixth runs.

Carlos Gonzalez hit a solo home run (22) in the second inning, but the final two runs of the game didn't come until Chris Nelson's pinch-hit two-run single in the eighth inning.

Chacin (10-10, 3.49 ERA) allowed a solo home run to Brian Bogusevic in the fourth inning for the only run he surrendered in the game. Chacin didn't have his best stuff, but he didn't belabor the outing like his last one. He really did scatter 11 hits, though.

J.C. Romero allowed a three-run home run in the ninth and needed Josh Roenicke to bail him out. Roenicke, though, finally allowed a run, though that was when Rafael Betancourt allowed a sac fly in relief of him.

The Rockies (61-68, 33-33 home) continue this series on Tuesday with Alex White making his Rockies debut. Bud Norris will oppose him at 6:40 p.m. MT.

As frustrating as the Rockies' season has been, the Astros have had a season they will want to forget. They are 33.5 games out of first place in the NL Central and have just 42 victories so far. The Rockies, 60-68, have had a comparatively pleasant season against that.

Brett Myers (3-12, 4.72 ERA) has been on the wrong side of the scoreboard too often this season. The Opening Day starter, Myers last won a game on June 17, a 7-3 complete game victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his 11 starts since then, Myers has gone 0-6, but he's pitched decently in many of those starts. He had just one start that was under six innings pitched (4.1 IP), though in five of those starts he did allow four or more runs.

Colorado has not fared well against Myers in his career. He is 7-0 with a 3.47 ERA in eight career appearances against the Rockies. Six of those starts have come at Coors Field, where he is 5-0 with a 3.92 ERA. But this will be his first start against the Rockies as a member of the Astros.

Jhoulys Chacin (9-10, 3.59 ERA) was the tale of two different pitchers in his last two starts. He threw a gem of an outing against the Cincinnati Reds by allowing two runs in eight innings. He took the loss after the Rockies could put up just one run to the Reds' two. Then he followed that with five runs surrendered in four innings against the Florida Marlins. This will be just his second start against the Astros, having taken the loss in 2010 after allowing five runs.
