The 2011 USA Pro Cycling Challenge in Colorado has come to an end on Sunday with Levi Leipheimer basking in victory. Though he did not win the final stage from Golden to Denver, Leipheimer had built an 11 second lead over the previous days to edge out Christian VandeVelde. Boulder's Tom Danielson finished in fourth place, just 21 seconds behind Leipheimer.

Daniel Oss won the final stage, just ahead of Elia Viviani who won the previous two stages. Oss finished 30th overall while Viviani was over 26 minutes behind and finished 74th overall.

Leipheimer completed the entire circuit in 20:00:24. VandeVelde and Danielson, second- and fourth-place finishers, are both teammates on Garmin-Cervelo. Tejay Van Garderen took third-place with a 17-second gap ahead of him. That netted him the Best Young Rider victory. Tour de France 2011 winner Cadel Evans finished seventh overall, where he had been the last few days.

Elia Viviani won his second stage in a row by capturing victory on the Stage 5 Steamboat Springs-Breckenridge run on Saturday. However, Levi Leipheimer finished in the group of cyclists who received the same finishing time (4:04:31) as Viviani. As a result, Leipheimer maintains the overall lead in the general classification as we enter the final day of the race on Sunday.

Leipheimer holds an 11 second lead over Christian VandeVelde entering Sunday's ride from Golden to Denver. Riders will contend with Lookout Mountain early in the race, roughly 11 miles into the competition. It comes on the underside of the figure-eight shape that the race takes before the race turns into Denver. Once in Denver the racers will circle Speer Blvd. for six laps before heading to the finish line near the State Capitol Building.

Live race coverage can be seen on NBC at noon MT.

The 2011 USA Pro Cycling Challenge continues on Saturday with Levi Leipheimer still in the overall lead. Leipheimer finished in a group of 92 racers who all received the same finished in the same time as the stage winner did. Elia Viviani won the stage after taking Avon to Steamboat Springs in 2:58:14. The top 10 remained unchanged and no racer lost any time after the completion of this stage.

Stage 5 of the race picks back up in Steamboat Springs. One hundred five miles later, the racers will find themselves in Breckenridge. The cyclists will start off at 6,700 feet high and work their way up to nearly 9,600 feet early on in the race. After that, the riders will experience more rolling hills, but no challenging mountain climbs.

Versus will have you covered again, as they air the race starting at 2:00 p.m. MT.

Levi Leipheimer is back in first place at the 2011 USA Pro Cycling Challenge after a brief departure from the top spot at the end of stage two. Leipheimer won the Stage 3 individual time trial at Vail in 25:47. Garmin-Cervelo's Christian VandeVelde finished with the same time as Leipheimer. Now they are Nos. 1 and 2 in the standings, separated by 11 seconds.

The previous No. 1, Tejay Van Garderen, is now No. 3. Boulder resident Tom Danielson dropped to fourth overall, but he actually shaved one second off the gap in front of him.

Stage 4 begins in Avon and ends 83 miles later in Steamboat Springs. This stage is not like Stage 2's ride through from Gunnison to Aspen. While there are no high peaks, Stage 4 does have rolling hills and a long stretch of the race does take place above 7,500 feet. The sprinters will like this stage. Live coverage of the race begins on Versus at 2:00 p.m. MT.

The 2011 USA Pro Cycling Challenge comes to Colorado. It begins on Aug. 22 with a prologue that starts in the Garden of the Gods and finishes in downtown Colorado Springs.

The 2011 USA Pro Cycling Challenge comes to Colorado Aug. 22-28 and local Tom Danielson is a favorite to win the state's first major race in two decades. Danielson rode in his first Tour de France this July and finished ninth overall, the highest-finishing American. He is one of the top favorites in the USA Pro Cycling Challenge because Danielson, a Boulder resident, has trained in the state for years.

Day 1 of the Challenge starts with a prologue that begins in the Garden of the Gods and goes for 5.5 miles through Old Colorado Springs and into downtown of the Springs. Because of the high elevation of Colorado Springs, the riders will already be racing at heights greater than they faced in the Tour de France. However, they face a slight decline as they make their way toward the finish line.

Danielson will face many of his fellow competitors from the Tour de France. He will be up against Cadel Evans, the winner of the TDF, and the Schleck brothers, Andy and Frank. Andy was the runner-up in the 2011 TDF. Evans will be the last rider to start, giving him plenty to aim for while he makes his way out of the Garden of the Gods

The scheduled start time for the prologue is 1:15 p.m. MT. Riders will leave one minute apart before the final 10 are at two minute apiece. The cyclists should cross the finish line by 3:45 p.m. MT. Versus will have live coverage of the race for the entire week.
