The No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks beat the No. 10 Texas Longhorns, 85-73, to capture the 2011 Big 12 Tournament championship. Kansas held the lead for almost the entire game, which the Morris Brothers helped create. The brothers combined for 31 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and three blocks.

All five starters for Kansas scored in double-digit points, led by Tyshawn Taylor's 20. Taylor and Brady Morningstar combined for 11 assists. Thomas Robinson scored all 10 bench points for the Jayhawks and pulled down nine boards as well. Kansas shot 56.9 percent from the field.

On the opposite side, Texas shot only 40.9 percent in the loss. Jordan Hamilton led the team with 21 points on 9-of-21 shooting (1of-8 from beyond the arc), and J'Covan Brown added 17 from off the bench, making four of his eight threes.

Kansas is likely headed to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Longhorns could wind up as a 3-seed, though we won't know about either for certain until Sunday night.

The Kansas Jayhawks and the Texas Longhorns, two of the top teams in the nation, will take the court against each other on Saturday night for the 2011 Big 12 Basketball Tournament Championship. In their only regular season game of 2011, the Longhorns defeated the Jayhawks, 74-63. Texas' J'Covan Brown scored 23 points coming off the bench, while the Jayhawks shot below 36 percent from the field.

The Jayhawks, at one point the No. 1 team in the country, defeated Oklahoma State and Colorado to advance to the championship round. Texas, as high as No. 2 in the country a couple of week ago, defeated Oklahoma and Texas A&M to face the Kansas in the final game of the tournament.

The 2011 Big 12 Tournament enters the semifinals round today, featuring a Kansas Jayhawks-Colorado Buffaloes match-up followed by a Texas Longhorns-Texas A&M Aggies tilt. Kansas, looking for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, beat the Buffs in both games they played this season. Will CU be able to pull off an upset and then play in the tournament championship? Alec Burks and company would like to think so.

If CU is able to do that, either the Longhorns or the Aggies await them. The Buffs won their only game against the Longhorns, 91-89, but dropped their game against the Aggies, 73-70, in overtime.

It would be a great storyline if the Buffs make it to the championship game and win the tournament title since it is their last season in the conference. We'll find out how far that can go when the teams tip off at 5:00 p.m. MT on Altitude2.

The Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies advanced to the semifinal round of the 2011 Big 12 Tournament on Thursday night and will face each other on Friday night.

The Longhorns cruised to a 20-point victory, 74-54, over the Oklahoma Sooners, who had beaten a Baylor team missing Perry Jones III the previous night. Jordan Hamilton and Tristan Thompson led the way with double-doubles. The former had 22 points and 10 rebounds while the latter added 13 points and 11 boards. J'Covan Brown scored 11 of Texas' 23 bench points. Oklahoma on the other hand had only 10 points. Cade Davis led the Sooners with 17 points.

Marcus Denmon's 22 points (3-of-5 on threes) was one of three double-digit performances for Tigers.

The Kansas Jayhawks are the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Tournament, but they escaped an Oklahoma St. Cowboys upset with a 63-62 victory. Oklahoma State's Jean-Paul Olukemi got off a bad shot with one second left on the clock to keep his team from advancing to the semifinals.

Marcus Morris, the Big 12 Player of the Year, led Kansas with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Nine of the 11 came on the offensive glass. His brother, Markieff, added 10 points and five boards. The bench added 18 points, though Oklahoma State's Olukemi nearly outscored them with his own 17 points off the bench. Kansas' Thomas Robinson grabbed eight boards coming off the bench.

Overall, it was a tough day shooting for both teams. The Cowboys came out ahead with 40 percent from the field, while the Jayhawks managed only 35.9 percent. State's Keiton page shot 6-of-12 from the field and 9-of-9 from the free throw line for a game-high 23 points. Matt Pilgrim pulled down 10 boards for the Cowboys.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers would have liked a fonder farewell to their time in the Big 12 following today's opening round loss to the Oklahoma St. Cowboys, 53-52.
