Finally, a game ended in nine innings. Unfortunately, much like Thursday, the Rockies were on the losing end this time around. After the emotion of the Red Sox series and the extra-inning, series-opening win on Friday, a letdown was expected.

Aaron Cook gave up a grand slam in the first inning to Hideki Matsui, but recovered to pitch an eight inning complete game loss. Cook, who has struggled on the road all season, threw a masterful game (aside from the first inning) with 17 ground ball outs and resting a weary bullpen for the remainder of the West Coast road trip.

The Rockies' offense was limited to a Clint Barmes home run in the fifth inning and a Miguel Olivo RBI single in the sixth. A highlight reel double play catch by Howie Kendrick in the top of the ninth ended any hope of a Rockies comeback.

The right-hander, who hasn't won on the road since July 16th at San Diego, threw seven strong innings in a no-decision against Milwaukee on Sunday. In that game, he allowed just one earned run and three hits in the team's eventual 6-1 loss.
