Arizona Fall League 2012: 2 Rockies prospects go hitless in loss

A pair of Colorado Rockies prospects went hitless on Friday night for the Salt River Rafters as the Rafters lost 4-0 to the Scottsdale Scorpions in Arizona Fall League action.

Outfielder Kent Matthes was 0-3 on the night, striking out twice and leaving two runners on base. Matthes, a 6'2 outfielder who played college ball at Alabama, spent the 2012 regular season with Rockies Double-A affiliate the Tulsa Drillers. He hit .214 with 17 home runs in 94 games with Tulsa.

Catcher Lars Davis went 0-2 in the loss and left one runner on base. Davis also spent 2012 in Tulsa, where he hit .287 with nine home runs in 90 games.

The loss was the first for the Salt River Rafters, a team that features several Rockies prospects. Now at 3-1 on the season, the Rafters' record is the best in the six-team league. The Rafters play again on Saturday at 12:35 p.m. MT.
