Nuggets vs. Lakers: Nuggets look to extend hot streak

Kobe scored 40 the last time these two played, but the Nuggets won. What will happen Sunday?

The Denver Nuggets are riding a hot streak, and they'll test it Sunday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Nuggets have won four of their last six—including a 126-114 home win over the Lakers on Christmas Day—heading into Sunday's game at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Denver took a 110-91 win over the Utah Jazz on Saturday night in Denver.

Despite a stomach virus that sent him to the hospital Friday, Nuggets power forward Kenneth Faried played Saturday and recorded his 15th double-double of the season. He finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Kobe Bryant has been at his best over the past month. Bryant has scored at least 30 points in 12 of his last 13 games. The lone exception was a 27-point performance in 31 minutes of play in a 104-87 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Dec. 28. The Lakers were only 6-7 over that stretch, however.

The Lakers lost their last time out, a 107-102 decision against the Los Angeles Clippers.
