Headlining Saturday's NBA schedule, the Miami Heat dropped the Brooklyn Nets in a battle between two teams that going into the game both had five-game winning streaks. Dwyane Wade led Miami with 34 points and seven assists while LeBron James put up 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the 102-89 victory.
There was also battle for supremacy in the Western Conference between the San Antonio Spurs and the Memphis Grizzlies. A game after coach Gregg Popovich caused controversy by resting his starters, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan scored 30 and 27 respectively in their return to the starting lineup, leading the Spurs in a 99-95 overtime win.
Sunday's big game was between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Orlando Magic, and Dwight Howard's former team got the last laugh with a 113-103 victory in Staples Center.
