Kenneth Faried scored 16 points and pulled down 16 rebounds as the Denver Nuggets staved off a Houston Rockets comeback to win, 93-87, on Wednesday night in Houston.

The Nuggets saw a 56-41 halftime lead disappear late in the third quarter, when a Patrick Patterson three-pointer and a Carlos Delfino layup pulled the Rockets to within two points at 63-61. Houston surged back again in the fourth quarter, as a pair of Jeremy Lin free throws made it 91-87 with just more than a minute left in the game, but the Rockets could not get closer than that.

Nuggets guard Ty Lawson led all scorers on the night with 21 points on 9-20 shooting, and also had a game-high eight assists on the night. After starting the season 0-3, Denver has picked up two wins over the last two nights.

Delfino led the Rockets in scoring with 19 points off the bench, while Patterson added 18 points on 8-13 shooting.

At 2-2, Houston travels to play the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, while Denver hosts the Utah Jazz on the same night.
