The Denver Nuggets open up preseason play on Saturday evening when they take on the Los Angeles Clippers at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas at 6:30 p.m. MT.
After a few days of training camp practice, both teams will play their first preseason game with an eye toward the start of the NBA season at the end of October. The game offers the opportunity to go through game-day preparations and see various players and playing combinations against real competition in a real-game environment.
The Nuggets will be missing veteran point guard Andre Miller and small forward Wilson Chandler. At 36, Miller is simply pacing himself through camp and will sit out the game to rest, while Chandler is resting a hip injury that isn't considered serious.
The Clippers will play without their star point guard duo of Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups. Paul continues to recover from offseason thumb surgery while Billups remains on the long road to recover from an Achilles tendon injury last season.
The game can be heard on the Altitude Radio Network at AM 950.
