The Northern Colorado Bears remained winless away from Greeley this season, losing on the road to the Northern Iowa Panthers, 76-59, on Wednesday night.
It was a three-guard show for the Bears, led by 16 points from Tevin Svihovec and 14 points from Tate Unruh, who shot 4-8 from the three-point line. Paul Garnica added 15 points off the bench for Northern Colorado, shooting an efficient 5-of-7 from the field and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.
The Panthers sprinted out to a big lead early, grabbing a 20-6 advantage six minutes into the game after four consecutive three-pointers from Deon Mitchell, Nate Buss, and Matt Bohannon. Northern Iowa shot 52% from the field and was led in scoring by Jake Koch, who posted 17 points and seven rebounds.
Aside from the three-guard attack, all other Northern Colorado players combined for only 14 points.
Now at 1-5, the Bears remain on the road and will face No. 24 Wichita State Shockers on Dec. 8.
