The Northern Colorado Bears fell to 0-3 on the road this year after losing 69-63 to the UC Riverside Highlanders on Saturday at the Student Recreation Center. It is the fourth straight loss for Northern Colorado.
The Bears (1-4) were led by Tim Huskisson, who had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Derrick Barden, who also registered a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. Tate Unruh added 17 points for Northern Colorado, including 5 of 10 shooting from behind the three-point line.
UC Riverside (2-6) was led to victory by the 21 points of Robert Smith and 17 points of Chris Harriel. Riverside managed a victory despite turning the ball over 20 times and shooting an atrocious 21 of 45 from the free throw line. The Highlanders were 15 of 35 in the second half alone from the stripe.
The Bears next take the court on Wednesday night against the Northern Iowa Panthers.
