For three quarters, the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl did not live up to the explosive expectations of its two participants. However, the Utah State Aggies blew the game open with 28 points in the fourth quarter, giving them an easy 41-15 win over the Toledo Rockets.
Toledo kicked a pair of field goals in the first half, and really struggled to get the offense moving. Austin Dantin went 12-21 for 132 yards and threw two interceptions, while Bernard Reedy was held to 50 rushing yards and 62 receiving yards. Reedy scored the Rockets' lone touchdown on an 87-yard kickoff return with 3:29 remaining.
Utah State running back Kerwynn Williams racked up 235 rushing yards and three touchdowns, including touchdown runs of 63 and 25 yards in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Chuckie Keeton had a 62-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and went 21-31 for 229 yards in the air.
The Rockets finish the season with a 9-4 record in their first season under head coach Matt Campbell. Utah State finished 11-2, will finish ranked (probably higher than No. 20), and will look for a spot next summer in the preseason polls.
