Potato Bowl 2012 score update: Utah State holds off Toledo offense, leads 13-6

Kyler Fackrell caught an interception deep in Utah State territory to keep Toledo off the board in the third quarter.

The No. 22 Utah State Aggies continued to hold the potent Toledo offense at bay in the third quarter and extended their lead to seven points with a 44-yard field goal from Nick Diaz to take a 13-6 lead into the final 15 minutes of the game.

Prior to Saturday's Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, the Rockets had scored 24 points or more in each of their 2012 games with the exception of a 24-17 overtime loss to Arizona in their season opener. However, Toledo has yet to crack double-digits although they threatened to do so with a drive deep into Utah State territory during the third quarter. That drive was ended, though, by an interception by linebacker Kyler Fackrell to keep Toledo off the board in the second half.

While the Toledo offense was held at bay, the Aggies struggled to distance themselves although quarterback Chuckie Keeton found success early in the second half. Keeton led the Aggies on a eight-play, 48-yard drive, but was unable to punch in a touchdown for Utah State.
