On Friday, the University of Denver announced the addition of forward Griffin McKenzie to the school's 2012 men's basketball recruiting class. McKenzie transferred to Denver from Xavier and will sit out the 2012-13 season.
As a sophomore in 2011-12, McKenzie appeared in 11 games for the Musketeers and played a total of 25 minutes. As a freshman, he appeared in 17 games and averaged 2.5 minutes per contest.
Pioneers head coach Joe Scott believes McKenzie will be an excellent fit for the program:
"Griffin was a highly recruited player out of high school," Scott said. "He's big, strong and athletic, and we know he will fit in well with our program. He complements our current players extremely well. We look forward to him contributing in the future."
The other members of Denver's 2012 recruiting class include Nate Engesser, Jalen Love, Bryant Rucker and Dom Samac.
