NCAA Lacrosse Rankings 2012: Denver Jumps In Media Poll Prior To Match-Up With 10-0 Loyola

The Denver Pioneers had no issues with Bellarmine last Friday night in a 12-6 win that moved the Pioneers to 7-3 heading into a huge match-up with undefeated and No. 4 Loyola on Saturday. Against Bellarmine, senior Mark Matthews had a season-high six points off of five goals and one assists. Denver also received four points from Alex Demopoulos and three from sophomore Jeremy Noble.

The polls went the opposite directions as last week, with the Nike Media Poll moving Denver up three spots to No. 8 and the USILA Coaches Poll moving them down a notch to No. 10. In the media poll DU sits above North Carolina and Maryland but they both stay ahead of the Pioneers in the coaches poll, even with UNC coming off of a loss to No. 1 Virginia.

In national news, No. 1 Virginia held on to the top spot with a 15-10 win over the Tar Heels. The rest of the top seven in the polls remained the same. Syracuse jumped from No. 17 to No. 14 in the Nike poll after a win over Princeton.

The Pioneers now prepare for a huge match-up with 10-0 Loyola this Saturday, April 14th at 7:00 at DU's Peter Barton Stadium.
