The third-seeded Denver Pioneers have a slim 27-22 lead over No. 6 seed South Alabama at halftime of this 2012 Sun Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals matchup. The Pioneers shot 44.4% from the field in the half, and also finished +2 in the turnover category. The Pioneers were just 2-6 from beyond the three-point line, though, and they'll need to get that going if they want to make things a little easier on themselves in the second half.
South Alabama was competitive in every respect, but so far Denver's slight edges in shooting and the turnover department have been the difference.
Rob Lewis leads Denver with nine points; Chris Udofia, who is hampered by foul trouble, went scoreless in the opening half. Udofia already has three fouls, which could prove a factor down the stretch.
