College Hockey Scores: Denver Pioneers Down Nebraska-Omaha, 3-0

The Denver Pioneers (20-11-4) have one more game left in the regular season after defeating the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks, 3-0, on Friday night. Freshman defenseman Scott Mayfield picked up an assist on each goal and freshman goalie Juho Olkinuora saved all 26 shots he faced to picked up his second career shutout.

Shawn Ostrow started the scoring at 6:07 in the first period with a one-timer from Mayfield and Nate Dewhurst. About seven minutes later, Jason Zucker netted his 20th goal of the season with the assists to Chris Knowlton and Mayfield.

Drew Shore scored his 20th goal of the season, an NCAA-leading 11th power play goal, at 14:55 in the second period. Brother Nick Shore and Mayfield contributed to the goal.

Though there was no scoring in the final period, Nebraska-Omaha's Jayson Megna received the open door and received a game misconduct for a check to the back at 16:17. In the final four-plus minutes of the game there were six penalties between the teams.

The Pioneers will look to continue this high note on Saturday when they close out the regular season against the Mavericks once again. The puck drops at 6:07 p.m. MT.
