NCAA Lacrosse, Denver Vs. Notre Dame: Pioneers Face Fighting Irish In Another Road Test

The Denver Pioneers are set to take on Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana today in a nationally televised match-up between two top ten programs. The ball drops on this one at 11:00 a.m. MT and will be available on ESPNU and ESPN3.

The No. 10/10 Pioneers have won four straight games after an opening day loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes. They got their first win in a four game road trip with last Saturday's 14-6 victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions. The Pioneers put up seven second quarter goals and were led by senior attacker Mark Matthews' four goals and five assists, and Eric Law and Alex Demopoulos with four points each.

No. 7/8 Notre Dame has started the season 3-1, with the only loss coming in a 4-3 overtime defeat to Penn State at home. The Irish are known for their tough defense, holding each of their four opponents this year under five goals. DU, on the other hand, hasn't been held under nine goals this year.

Last year, the No. 14/17 Pioneers lost a 10-9 thriller in Denver to the No. 3/3 Fighting Irish.

Denver has a quick turnaround after this one with a Tuesday game at Cornell before returning back to Colorado to take on Air Force in Colorado Springs next Saturday.
