The Denver Pioneers (21-8) made a good showing on the 2011-12 Sun Belt All-Conference teams. Sophomore forward Chris Udofia made the first team and won the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Senior guard Brian Stafford found a spot on the second team.
Udofia averaged 14.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 29 games this season, first in all those categories except for freshman Royce O'Neale's 5.6 rebounds. Udofia turned in one of his best performance of the season when the Pioneers appeared on an ESPN broadcast in early February. In the win over the Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders, Udofia scored a season-high 27 points, pulled down nine rebounds, blocked four shots and stole the ball twice. He had three games with five blocks and two with six blocks.
Stafford was second on the team with 14.3 points and 2.0 assists per game. For more on Stafford and Udofia, head over to DenverPioneers.com.
