The Denver Pioneers opened the lacrosse season with a 10-9 loss to the Ohio St. Buckeyes and fell to No. 11/12 in the polls, but freshman attacker Wes Berg certainly showed he deserves his early playing time: he was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Rookie of the Week. Berg scored two goals and assisted on another in his first collegiate game.
↵The Pioneers, though, saw the Offensive Player of the Week, the Buckeyes' Logan Schuss, score five goals against them. The Pioneers' defense is young and inexperienced; that performance should be a learning lesson for them.
