The Denver Pioneers are playing for seeding in the upcoming 2012 Sun Belt Tournament and they have just two games left in the regular season as a member of the conference. On Saturday, the Pioneers welcome the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks for an evening contest at Magness Arena.
The Pioneers defeated the Warhawks on the road, 63-48, back on Jan. 19. In that game, Denver held the Warhawks to just 18 points in the first half before losing the second half, 30-27. However, Brian Stafford's 17 points helped the Pioneers maintain the lead throughout the game. Sophomore Chris Udofia added 12 points and eight rebounds while Royce O'Neale contributed 10 points off the bench.
Since that victory over the Warhawks, Udofia has averaged 17 points and 4.75 rebounds over eight games. Perhaps his best game of the season came during that stretch when he scored a season-high 27 points and pulled down nine boards in a nationally televised 75-60 victory over the Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders. He also had four steals and two each of assists and steals.
Louisiana-Monroe is seeking its third win of the season, as it is 2-24 overall and 1-12 in the Sun Belt. The Warhawks are currently on a nine-game losing streak.
Game time/date: 4:00 p.m. MT, Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012
