The Denver Pioneers hockey team knocked off the top-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers on Friday night with a 5-3 win, but lost their star forward Jason Zucker when he suffered an injury on an vicious hit by Gophers player Kyle Rau. It's unclear how long Zucker will be out of action, but there are already further repercussions of the play.

On Saturday afternoon, Twitter feed @GopherPuckLive reported that Rau will not be participating in Saturday night's game against Bemidji St.. Rau has been suspended for one game due to the hit on Zucker.
It is a good thing that the NCAA is enforcing punishment on unnecessary and dangerous hits like this one. Hopefully Zucker will be back soon and will not suffer any long-term effects. It's a good sign that he was able to leave the ice under his own power, but he stayed down for a very long time after the hit.
