Air Force vs. Denver final score: Pioneers make easy work of Falcons, 5-2

The University of Denver beat Air Force 5-2 on Saturday, powered by a Nick Shore hat trick.

The University of Denver Pioneers skated past the Air Force Falcons with ease on Saturday, to the tune of a 5-2 final score. Nick Shore had a hat trick for Denver, and Adam Murray stopped 22 shots. The Pioneers, ranked 7th in the latest USCHO.com poll, move to 2-0 on the season, and Air Force drops to 0-2-2.

Shore scored once in each period, but the game didn't really get away from Air Force until the third period. Casey Kleisinger scored to make it 2-1 Denver less than three minutes into the third, but goals from Shore and Joey LaLeggia in the next few minutes essentially put the game out of reach. Chad Demers added another goal for the Falcons, and Zac Larraza added an empty netter for the Pioneers.

Shore ended the game with four points. LaLeggia and Nolan Zajac had two points apiece for the Pioneers, who pumped 42 shots on the Air Force goal, and went 2/3 on the power play.
