Denver Pioneers' standout Joey LaLeggia is one of the country's top defensemen, and USCHO.com has ranked him No. 2 in their list of top 10 defensemen to watch this season. With the college hockey season getting underway this month, USCHO is breaking down some of the nation's best at their respective positions, and LaLeggia has certainly distinguished himself. Only Danny Biega of Harvard comes in ranked ahead of him on the list. He's a true two-way defenseman, and the hockey world has taken notice, via Daver Karnosky:

Ask any coach which defenseman from last season they would want to have on their roster and one of the first names that jumps to mind is this talented sophomore. Last season's WCHA rookie of the year and Hockey Commissioners Association's national rookie of the year was nothing short of outstanding while posting 38 points in 43 games.

The sophomore from British Columbia will get a taste of home this week, as the Pioneers host the University of British Columbia at the Pepsi Center on Saturday.

Also making an appearance in the top 10 is Air Force's Adam McKenzie. The junior has been a stalwart on the blue line for a Falcons team that finished atop the Atlantic Hockey standings. McKenzie is No. 10 on the list.
