Senior Denver Pioneers goalie Sam Brittain is saying all the right things about the team's three-goalie competition. In a video from the school's website, Brittain said he looks forward to the competition with fellow goalies Adam Murray and Juho Olkinuora:
"The three of us, we're competing for ice time," Britain said. "It's great practice. We push each other to be better. It's a very healthy competition and it's going to make us all better goalies."
Head coach George Gwozdecky said it's important for teams to be strong up the middle at the team's annual media day:
"Any successful team has to be strong down the middle," Gwozdecky said. "We have three outstanding goaltenders in Sam Brittain, Adam Murray and Juho Olkinuora all returning, and all of whom give us a chance to win any game. We're going to be extremely strong on the blueline with great depth, not only with the incoming talent we have, but from our returning players as well, led by captain Paul Phillips."
The Pioneers open their season Friday against UMass Lowell.
