Wes Eikmeier led three Colorado State scorers in double-figures by finishing with 22 points and three assists to lift Colorado State to a 79-75 win over the Denver Pioneers. Eikmeier made good use of the free throw line -- going for 10-for-10 -- and finished the game 6-of-16 from the field. The win improves the Rams to 11-4, while Denver falls to 13-4.
The win was Colorado State's sixth straight, and improves the team to 7-1 at home. Forward Greg Smith had 17 points and seven assists on 6-of-9 shooting for the Rams. Teammate Dorian Green also starred. The guard finished 5-of-8 from the floor for 15 points.
The loss puts a dent in the Pioneers' best start in school history. Denver guard Brian Stafford led all scorers with 24 points on 6-of-7 shooting by going 10-for-10 from the foul line. Teammates Chris Udofia (15 points) and Brett Olson (12 points) also played well in the win.
