After falling to the Colorado College Tigers last week, the Denver Pioneers came back with a 3-2 victory over the Bemidji State on Friday night. The Pioneers battled back in the third period from a 2-1 deficit that the Beavers had at the end of the second period. Jason Zucker at 3:16 in the second period and then saw Shea Walters and Jamie MacQueen put Bemidji State on the board with two goals.
Zucker came back in the third period with the game-tying goal at 12:51 and then saw Drew Shore (who assisted on Zucker's first goal) score the game-winner nearly three minutes later. Goalie Juho Olkinuora made 21 saves on 23 shots. The Pioneers are now 7-5-3 and will continue this series on Saturday.
The Colorado College Tigers, however, dropped a home game to the Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves, 6-3. The Tigers had a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period, but the Seawolves scored three goals in the second period and two in the third period. William Rapuzzi and Alexander Krushelnyski had the Colorado College first period goals while Nick Dineen had the second period score. Goalie Joe Howe allowed all six goals on 26 shots and was relieved by Courtney Lockwood late in the final period. The Tigers are 8-5-0.
