The Colorado College Tigers might not hold onto the No. 2 spot in the polls any longer than the Denver Pioneers did. The Tigers fell to the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks on Friday night, 7-5.
Goalie Joe Howe had his sterling start spoiled by allowing six of the seven goals. He faced 34 shots and stopped just 28. The Mavericks scored three in the first period, one in the second and then three in the third. Jayson Megna and Matt White each scored two goals for the Mavericks. White also had a team-high four points.
The Tigers created an inverse pyramid with the scoring by scoring one goal in the first and third periods and three in the second. Nick Dineen netted two power play goals, but Jaden and Rylan Scwartz were held to two assists and one assist, respectively.
This series concludes on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. MT and the Tigers surely need a win to stop falling in Monday's polls.
