Air Force Hockey Sends UConn To 3-1 Loss

The Air Force Falcons picked up their sixth win of the season by defeating the UConn Huskies on Friday night. Air Force jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period after Kyle DeLaurell scored his seventh goal of the season at 10:18 in the frame. Chad Demers and John Kruse assisted on the play. DeLaurell and Kruse assisted on Tim Kirby's goal in the second period, the eventual game-winning score. Kirby scored on the power play for his third goal of the season.

That Air Force goal came at just 1:02 into the period. The Huskies answered back two minutes later with a power play goal of their own, scored by Sean Ambrosie. However, Cole Gunner netted the Falcons' third goal of the game at 11:32 in the second period.

After a scoreless third period, the Falcons picked up the win. Goalie Stephen Caple faced 18 shots and saved 17 of them. His teammates, thought, were able to put up 40 on Garrett Bartus.

The two teams conclude the series on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. MT.
