Denver Pioneers Defeat Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks, 7-3

One week after defeating the Colorado College Tigers, 5-4, the Denver Pioneers are now on a two-game winning streak with a 7-3 defeat of the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks. The Pioneers put on an offensive showcase against goalie John Faulkner, who allowed all seven goals. Nick Shore began and ended the scoring in the game with a first period goal, his second of the season, and a second period goal. Both came on the power play. He was the only multi-goal scorer in the game.

The Mavericks played a tight game in the first period, answering the Pioneers goal for goal. Josh Archibald had his sixth of the season while Ryan Walters came up with a power play goal. Shawn Ostrow has the Pioneers' second goal of the first period.

But the Pioneers pulled away in the third period. Before Nick Shore had the final goal of the game at 17:30 in the second period, Jarrod Mermis, Chris Knowlton and Nick's brother Drew Shore each put a goal past Faulkner.

Pioneers goalie Adam Murray improved to 5-2-1 after making 33 saves on 36 attempts.

The Pioneers are now 5-3-2 and will finish the series on Saturday,
