The Denver Pioneers lacrosse team made it farther than any other team west of the Mississippi in reaching the semifinals of the 2011 NCAA Lacrosse Tournament. They lost to the Virginia Cavaliers, the eventual national champions.
↵The Pioneers won't be back on the field for regular season competition until 2012, but fans get any early look at the team on Oct. 22 when they take on the Denver Outlaws. The two teams will play an exhibition game in the third annual Colorado Lacrosse Showcase.
↵Tickets don't go on sale until Oct. 7, but be sure to secure your seat at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. You'll be able to check out senior attacker Mark Matthews and sophomore goalie Jamie Faus. It'll be a nice way to feed a lacrosse obsession until 2012.
