Jaden Schwartz, Colorado College Hockey Visit Rensselaer Engineers

The Colorado College Tigers hockey teams opened the 2011-12 season two weeks ago with a two-game sweep of the Bemidji State Beavers. After a week off, the Tigers start their road schedule with a visit to Troy, NY, to face the Rensselaer Engineers.

The Engineers are 1-4 this season after splitting a two-game series with Minnesota-Mankato, dropping a two-game set to Ferris State and most recently losing to ranked Notre Dame. Senior forward Joel Malchuk leads the team with two goals while Bryce Merriam has manned the net in four contests. He has allowed nine goals on 115 shots. Injuries to three key forwards this season have hurt the Engineers, but also breaking in a larger freshmen class is taking its time.

The Tigers, meanwhile, will look to continue their strong start with the continued support of the Schwartz brothers. Jaden, a top candidate for end-of-the-season awards, leads the team with four points (two goals, two assists) while Rylan has the team-high of three goals. Goalie Joe Howe has allowed one goal on 37 shots and had to relieve Josh Thorimbert in the third period of the Tigers' second game against Bemidji.

The puck drops at 5:00 p.m. MT on Friday and Saturday.
