Colorado College Hockey: Tigers Defeat Bemidji State, 3-1

The Colorado College Tigers started off their 2011-12 season with a 3-1 victory over the Bemidji State Beavers. The Tigers overcame a shaky first period and put together a solid second and third periods. Goaltender Joe Howe made 26 saves on 27 saves.

The Tigers started their fire at the start of the second period when Gabe Guentzel scored just 25 seconds into the period. Joe Howe allowed that one puck to get by him at 6:41 in the second when Mitch Cain answered following two missed shot by his teammates. Eight minutes later, Jaden Schwartz put his first point on the board with an even-handed goal. Assists went to Michael Boivin and Eamonn McDermott.

Boivin put the Tigers ahead, 3-1, at 5:45 in the third period with the help of Dakota Eveland and William Rapuzzi.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night at 7:07 p.m. MT. The Tigers will then take a week off before resuming play on Oct. 28.
