2012 NBA Mock Draft: SI.com Projects Damian Lillard To Toronto

Weber State point guard Damian Lillard is projected to be selected by the Toronto Raptors with the eighth overall pick in the latest mock draft from Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated. At this point, it seems like Lillard is a lock to be taken in the lottery after beginning the year as a fringe first-round pick.

Lillard's rise has been steady, and his decision to participate combine drills paid off after he shined as a shooter and an athlete. The Raptors are seeking scorers to help an offense that ranked 29th in points per possession and could be looking for their next floor general now that incumbent point guard Jose Calderon is entering the final year of his contract (worth $10.6 million). Syracuse shooting guard Dion Waiters is under consideration as well.

Amick also writes that the Sacramento Kings are considering Lillard, although that would create an obvious playing time issue in the backcourt with Tyreke Evans, Marcus Thornton, Isaiah Thomas and Jimmer Fredette already on the roster.
