2012 NBA Mock Draft: Denver Nuggets Projected To Take Syracuse's Dion Waiters By Draft Express

The most recent mock draft by Draft Express has the Denver Nuggets projected to select Syracuse guard Dion Waiters with the 20th overall selection in the 2012 NBA Draft. Denver already has a host of players capable playing the off-guard spot on the roster, but one of them, Rudy Fernandez, is a restricted free agent and could bolt town.

The Nuggets don't have a player who resembles Waiters very closely. At 6-4, he's a classic combo guard, blessed with a strong body that is about two inches too short to ideally play the two-guard spot in the NBA. Still, Waiters' scoring acumen and ability to create his own shot would seem to make him an ideal bench scorer at the next level. We all know how much the Nuggets like to score the ball.

Waiters could also develop into a disruptive defender, though it remains to be seen how he'll be able to handle NBA two-guards who may have a few inches on him.
