A three-pointer from Al Harrington with ten seconds left to tie Wednesday night's game at 92 completed a ten-point Denver Nuggets comeback, but the euphoria was short lived. New Orleans Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon was fouled by Arron Aflalo with two seconds left, and after he sunk both attempts, the Nuggets were unable to get a shot off in their final possession, allowing the Hornets to secure a 94-92 victory.
The loss to the lowly Hornets should be a disconcerting one for a team that is nowhere close to guaranteeing itself a spot in the 2012 NBA playoffs. The Nuggets once again let themselves down on the defensive end, allowing the Hornets to shoot 52% from the field including 50% from the three point range. The Nuggets also were outworked on the glass, relinquishing 41 rebounds while only hauling in 32 themselves. Hornets center Chris Kaman scored 14 points and grabbed ten rebounds while also blocking five shots.
The Nuggets are off tomorrow night as they return home to face the Phoenix Suns.
