The Denver Nuggets are fighting for their playoff lives in the Western Conference, making games like the one on Wednesday against the 25-33 Minnesota Timberwolves a must win. Through a quarter, the Nuggets lead 37-24 at the Pepsi Center.
Point guard Ty Lawson has 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting for the Nuggets after one quarter. Rookie forward Kenneth Faried has six points and four rebounds on 3-of-3 shooting. Danilo Gallinari has five points and four assists for Denver. Center JaVale McGee has four points.
The Timberwolves are being led by guard Jose Juan Barea, who has 10 points and three assists on 4-of-5 shooting. Wesley Johnson and Nikola Pekovic each have six for Minnesota after the end of the first.
