The Denver Nuggets finally broke free from the Sacramento Kings in the the third quarter on Monday night, and will take a 85-79 lead into the fourth quarter at the Pepsi Center. The game has been tightly contested throughout with shooting guard Marcus Thornton doing all he can to keep the Kings close.
Arron Afflalo has 22 points on 6-of-13 shooting for the Nuggets, numbers that include three makes from three-point range and 7-of-8 conversions from the foul line. Al Harrington has 14 points and five rebounds on 5-of-10 shooting off the bench for George Karl's team. Rookie forward Kenneth Faried has 10 points and six rebounds on 5-of-6 shooting for Denver after three quarters.
Thornton has 21 points to lead the Kings. Guard Tyreke Evans has 15 points for Sacramento, while teammate Jason Thompson has 11 points.
