Nuggets Vs. Timberwolves: Corey Brewer Likely To Start In Place Of Arron Afflalo

Denver Nuggets coach George Karl said that Corey Brewer will be starting at shooting guard in place of the suspended Arron Afflalo as the team faces the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, according to Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post. Dempsey also notes that Karl wasn't entirely sure that Brewer would start, only saying that it's the likely scenario.

Usually, the Nuggets have Afflalo going at shooting guard every night, but the NBA suspended him for throwing an elbow at Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward during Friday's game between the two teams. The suspension only lasts one game so Afflalo should return next week.

As injuries and other things have messed with Denver's roster, Brewer has made 14 starts already this season despite being primarily a bench player. This season, he's currently averaging 9.6 points and 2.9 rebounds while playing about 22 minutes per game.
