NBA Standings 2012: Nuggets In Tough Fight For Positioning

The Denver Nuggets face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, starting a stretch of five games from this Sunday to next Sunday. It will be imperative for the Nuggets to have a winning week since the Western Conference standings are packed tightly as we enter the final month-plus of the regular season.

The Nuggets currently occupy the eighth spot in the Western Conference, but they are barely hanging to that spot. The team has been able to put a winning streak together since the start of February, alternating wins and losses. From the Los Angeles Clippers as the No. 4 seed to the Nuggets at No. 8, those teams are separated by only one game. The Houston Rockets are just half of a game behind the Nuggets, making the rest of the season high pressure for the Nuggets.
